Water-Resources Investigation Report 03-4076

Aquatic Assemblages and Their Relation to Temperature Variables of Least-Disturbed Streams in the Salmon River Basin, Central Idaho, 2001

Douglas S. Ott and Terry R. Maret
Abstract

This report documents the thermal regime of least-disturbed streams in the Salmon River Basin; characterizes the distribution of aquatic biota in streams that represent a gradient of temperature; and describes relations between environmental variables and benthic invertebrate and fish assemblages. Study results will assist resource managers in developing applicable criteria that will protect coldwater biota and salmonid spawning and take into account natural environmental diversity.
