The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and Jerome County, constructed a map showing the probability of detecting elevated (greater than 2 milligrams per liter) concentrations of nitrate in ground water. The map was constructed to assist local regulatory and resource agencies manage land use and protect water resources. Data used for map construction were collected from wells in Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, and Twin Falls Counties during 1991-2001.
