Ground Water Resources of Idaho

Introduction

Sampling ground water from a test well at the Idaho National Laboratory in eastern Idaho
Ground water is an important source of drinking water and irrigation in Idaho. The USGS Idaho Water Science Center monitors a ground-water level network of over 800 wells throughout the state. In addition, current and recent USGS studies have examined the ground-water resources of the Wood River Valley, the eastern Snake River Plain aquifer underlying the Idaho National Laboratory, and the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie aquifer (new window).
