Coeur d' Alene Basin Water-Quality Study Area
The geographic area covered by the monitoring program includes the South Fork of the Coeur d' Alene River and its tributaries, the North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene River near its confluence with the South Fork, the lower Coeur d' Alene River downstream to Coeur d' Alene Lake, and the Spokane River downstream to the city of Spokane.

The inflows and outflow of Coeur d' Alene Lake are included in this monitoring program, but the Lake itself is not. Lake water quality is addressed in a separate Lake Monitoring Plan, which is a component of EPA's Coeur d' Alene Lake Management Plan.
