Groundwater is an important source of drinking water and irrigation in Idaho. The USGS Idaho Water Science Center monitors a groundwater level network of over 800 wells throughout the state. In addition, current and recent USGS studies have examined the groundwater resources of the Wood River Valley, the eastern Snake River Plain aquifer underlying the Idaho National Laboratory, and the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie aquifer.
