Water-Quality and Aquatic Biological Data

Discontinued 2009 Surface Water-Quality Monitoring Sites

National Water Information System Web Interface (NWISWeb)

The USGS collects and analyzes chemical, physical, and biological properties of water, sediment and tissue samples from across the Nation. The NWISWeb discrete sample data base is a compilation of over 4.4 million historical water quality analyses in the USGS district data bases through September 2005. The discrete sample data is a large and complex set of data that has been collected by a variety of projects ranging from national programs to studies in small watersheds. Go to Web site New window

National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Data Warehouse

The U.S. Geological Survey began its NAWQA program in 1991, systematically collecting chemical, biological, and physical water quality data from 42 study units (basins) across the nation. The data warehouse currently contains and links to data through 9/30/2006. Go to Web site New window

"Fish On"-Line: A Web-accessible Database of Aquatic Biological Data

The USGS Idaho Water Science Center and the USGS National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) Great Basin Information Project have partnered together to develop a management and delivery system for aquatic biological monitoring data. A large amount of aquatic biological data has been collected by the USGS water quality projects since early 1990s. In 2006 the fish community data was loaded into a relational database.
